Feds: Cannabinoids successfully treat cancer cells, 1975

A little historical context…

1970 – Controlled Substances Act Classifies Cannabis as a Drug with “No Accepted Medical Use”… “marihuana be retained within schedule I at least until the completion of certain studies (Shafer Commission) now underway to resolve the issue” -Nixon
June 1971 – Nixon declares war on drugs.
December 1971 – Nixon declares war on cancer.
March 1972 – The ‘Shafer Commission’ recommended decriminalization.
1972 – Nixon rejects his commission’s findings and keeps cannabis in the most dangerous drug category.

1975 – American Cancer Society funds research finding the anti-cancer effects of cannabinoids, “Antineoplastic activity of cannabinoids”
